Settled in Advance

Nothing is left to be discovered later

Fees depend on the forum, the stage the matter has reached and the work it will actually take, so no figure printed on a website could be honest about your case. What can be stated in advance is how the fee is arrived at, and when you will know it.

Agreed in writing before work begins

The basis of the fee is confirmed in writing before the chamber goes on record. Nothing is charged before that is settled.

Quoted for a defined stage

Litigation is quoted either per appearance or as a stage-wise fee covering a defined phase — up to framing of issues, or up to conclusion of arguments.

Court fees and expenses at actuals

Court fees, process fees, typing, certified copies and travel are billed separately at actuals, against receipts.

Discussed at the first consultation

What your matter is likely to cost, and over what period, is explained at the first consultation — before any commitment is asked of you.

A receipt against every payment

Every payment received is receipted.

What to ask at the first consultation. What the whole matter is likely to cost; whether the fee is per appearance or stage-wise; what happens if the matter settles early; and what expenses fall outside the fee. You are entitled to clear answers to all four before you engage anyone, here or elsewhere.
Before you commit

Ask what your matter will cost

The chamber would far rather explain the basis of a fee in advance than have a client guess at it.
